Experiments & Expedients

Real formulas from named 19th-century sources. Tested, not just repeated.

Every method here comes out of a book or a newspaper somebody kept, and the source is named. Where a formula uses something fossil-fuel derived, that is flagged and swapped. Where it disappoints, that is said too. Not everything here has been tested. I experiment with what I will actually use, or what I am too curious to leave alone; I do not buy supplies simply to have tried something.
